| Fingernail clipper: Position implement comfortable in your hand. Ideally, nails should be cut when wet for smother edges and best results. Nails should be cut into an oval shape and should extend slightly beyond fingertip to protect this sensitive area. This clipper is for fingernails only. Slant tip tweezers: For best results, apply a clean, damp, warm washcloth to the area to open pores. Position implement comfortable in your hand. Grasp a single strand of hair, as close to the base as possible, and gently pull out in the direction in which the hair grows. Emery boards: Hold coarse side at slight angle to nail and file in one direction toward center of the nail. File into oval shape and finish with fine side. Cuticle sticks: Soak fingers in warm water to soften cuticles. Wrap beveled end of cuticle stick with cotton and gently push back and shape cuticles. Cut off any hangnails, stray strands of skin, or ragged edges of the cuticle with a cuticle nipper or cuticle scissors. Use the pointed end of the cuticle stick to carefully clean under nails. To remove polish from the cuticle area, wrap the stick ends in cotton and dampen with nail polish remover. Toenail clipper: Position implement comfortable in your hand. Ideally, toenails should be cut when wet to prevent cracking and breaking. Place clipper along toenail edge, being careful not to cut nail shorter than the tip of toe for maximum safety and comfort. Nails should always be cut straight across to help prevent painful ingrown toenails. | |
